Mortise & Tenon w/Pegs, Western Red Cedar Shutter
The exterior colonial true louver shutter\door is a stunning piece of millwork. Incorporating authentic mortise and tenon construction with oversized stiles, rails, and a 2-1/2" beveled slat to create an exterior louvered shutter/door that is as beautiful as it is solid. Each tenon is secured with two teak pegs. This historically correct approach towards construction utilizes no mechanical fasteners.
Hand selected Western Red Cedar, a naturally decay-resistant wood, is choice for this application. Straight and light in weight, nothing matches the performance of Western Red Cedar. Semi-transparent and solid color stains are an excellent finish option. When painted, a good quality, fast drying, oil based primer should be used. Left unfinished cedar will silver and remain maintenance free for years.
This shutter features 1-3/8” flush stile and rail construction. Shutter design incorporates a 1-1/2 inch trim on top and bottom rails. Side styles will trim 1/2 inch. For unsurpassed quality, the exterior colonial true louver is the finest available.
